Accommodation

Participants should make their own hotel room reservations.
For available accommodations, see, for example,

Participants can contact KCNADE committee at any time, if they need some help.

Please be advised that Kyoto is a quite popular place to visit for both Japanese and foreign tourists, and hotel rooms are often occupied several months before the dates.
Thus we strongly recommend that you make a reservation as early as possible.
Please also note that Sep. 15 (Mon.) is a national holiday, and thus Sep. 13–15 is expected to be very crowded.

The busy areas of Kyoto are

  • Near Kyoto station
  • Near Shijo-Karasuma
  • Near Shijo-Kawaramachi

which are located in the google map provided in “Venue” page of this site.

Please also note that some guidebooks or sites recommend traditional style accommodations, “ryokan”.  Although they are really popular and good places to enjoy Japanese atmosphere, they are not always recommended for foreign people, since they generally obey old-style Japanese customs, and may not be convenient for guests who are more used to western style accommodations. For example, generally ryokan rooms are Tatami furnished, and people sit on it directly (which is traditional Japanese style of relaxing). Also, some ryokan do not have any baths or shower rooms in their rooms, and people share a big common bath room (cf. Japanese old-style bathing, Sento). If you still hope to try one, then it would be a good idea to make a plan to stay in a western style hotel during the conference period, and then move to a ryokan to spend a few nights. For ryokan, see, for example, Japanese Guest Houses: Kyoto.
